Hey welcome to the forums. Any windows 32bit OS will only read about 3GB's of RAM. Sometimes 3.3GB's.

But you need a 64bit OS. I think Vista 64bit reads like 128GB's of RAM!

When you have 4GB's of RAM, its doing to be in dual channel. If you just had 3 single 1GB sticks or 1x2GB module and one 1GB module, it would not be in dual channel. So your memory would not be running quite as fast. So the extra GB is not completely wasted.
im selling my desktop to this dude i think he wants to buy it, hes like selling iphones and whatnot so when he gets his money, its helloo for me to the new Dell XPS 1530 (product red)

If you have the money, I would suggest keeping your current desktop and going for a lower end Dell notebook such as the Vostro 1400 (I have this one) or 1500 or inspiron 1420 or 1520. Check http://www.dell.com/outlet and you might find some surprisingly good deals. The other day for under $459 including tax and shipping a friend of mine got an Inspiron 1520 with a 2GHz C2D, 2GB of RAM, Webcam, DVD Burner, and a few other goodies.

I was just looking at Dell outlet. Right now there is a 1521 with 1GB of RAM, a 120GB HD, 8400GS 128MB, Pentium Dual Core 1.46, 6 Cell battery, CD Burner, 15.4" LCD for only $398 after this 15% off coupon: T46SRRWQ3$HGVT

If you can find one for like $400-500 with an 8400GS then that should do you just fine for gaming on the go, and when your home you can game on your desktop. 8400GS is a beastly overclocker by the way. I got huge increase in performance from 2900 in 3dmark05 to 5,000!

Jason my friend! long time, thanks for the Coupon. i did order the Dell XPS but the 1330 cuz in the outlet there wernt anymore of the 1530 with the options i needed. sad part is after receiving my laptop it got stolen after 6 months Sad, thanks to my insurance i got my money back and bought a new gaming pc wich was a clone with the following specs

-Nvidia XFX 280GTX 1GB
-4GB ddr3 OCZ Reaper 1800Mhz ( No OC )
-Asus P5Q3
-2x 500 GB 72,000 rpm WD sata
-Thermaltake 760i big Water cooling ( cpu )
-Antec 1KW powersupply
-Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

i am really happy with the results but got it too overpriced from where i am roughly about $5000 but i'm gonna sell it soon so i can get an i7 or so and the new 3 series of Graphics if they come any time soon. well Jason ill keep you posted and let you know how everything went! CoolBig Grin

If already you have the 4GB's of RAM then utilise it properly. The reason is that your speed of the PC running fast and the extra GB is not wasted.
